Mohamad Hosein Naghdi

Mohamad Hosein Naghdi (MHN) is a professional barber based in Canberra, Australia. He works every day at Gem Barber, the barbershop he co-owns in the heart of the city, a place where craft, conversation and creativity meet.

Alongside barbering, he practises tazhib, the traditional Persian art of illumination, an intricate form rooted in Iranian visual culture. His illuminated paintings are displayed and sold in the barbershop, and several have already found new homes, so visitors encounter both craft and art in an unexpected setting.
